Focus on VietGAP production, organic rice

This year's spring rice crop, Yen Thanh district will plant 12,800 hectares, and at this time, localities are actively preparing all conditions for the new rice crop.

Purebred rice: TBR225, Thien Uu 8, SL9, sticky rice 87-97, sticky rice DT52, VTNA6, HN6, VNR20, purebred Huong 8. High-quality rice includes varieties: Huong Thom No. 1, Bac Thom No. 7-9, AC5...

In addition, Yen Thanh also promotes cooperation with companies such as TH Group, Vinh Hoa Company Limited, Nghe An Agricultural Materials Joint Stock Company; Central Seed Company, Thai Binh Seed Company, Central Agriculture Joint Stock Company and other enterprises to organize cooperation in rice seed production, raw rice production, and commercial rice production.

Yen Thanh advocates minimizing the use of poor quality, low yielding rice varieties and varieties with long growing periods. For high yielding, quality rice varieties that are susceptible to pests and diseases and sensitive to the weather, there needs to be a synchronous technical solution to ensure production safety.

The district directs each locality to choose 2-3 hybrid rice varieties and 2-3 main pure rice varieties; on the same field, only 1 or 2 rice varieties with similar growth periods should be planted and must be completed within 2-3 days to properly implement the requirements for care and pest management.

Synchronized mechanization from sowing and planting seedlings in trays, spraying by automatic aircraft in plant protection to harvesting and post-harvest technology. Expanding the area where mechanization is applied synchronously from land preparation, sowing seedlings in trays, machine planting, care, watering, harvesting and drying rice. At the same time, applying new mechanization such as straw rollers, seed sprayers for planting/sowing seedlings, pesticide sprayers and liquid fertilizer application by motorized sprayers.

At the same time, Yen Thanh district strengthens the transfer of scientific and technical advances through training, propaganda, and building large-scale demonstration models; Promotes the strength of agricultural extension and plant protection forces from the district to the grassroots level to quickly and promptly deploy major policies of the industry to the people; Integrates scientific programs and projects to build models of synchronous transfer of scientific and technological advances into production; Builds a model of intensive farming system towards commodity agricultural production, clean and safe agriculture.

Yen Thanh district directs localities to closely follow the targets, plans, structures and needs of fertilizer and seed use of communes and towns to provide timely supply, arrange supply points to facilitate producers. Up to now, Yen Thanh district has 2 largest material suppliers: Nghe An VTNT Company, since October 1, has provided Yen Thanh district with over 3,000 tons of NPK fertilizer, 100 tons of rice seeds, Cung Hue Service Company Limited has provided over 2,500 tons of Tien Nong and Dau Trau fertilizer, Phu My nitrogen...

Take proactive measures to prevent plant diseases

The district recommends increasing the use of organic fertilizers and using lime to treat the soil before planting, especially in areas infected with black-striped dwarf disease. Organize early top dressing, apply enough fertilizer and take care of the plants according to the technical instructions so that the plants can grow well from the beginning. The district strengthens the inspection and testing of the quality of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides in the area. Strictly handle cases of supplying materials that do not ensure quality, to ensure the interests of farmers.

The 2022 spring crop is forecasted to continue to have warm weather, the rice variety structure is oriented towards quality, so there is a risk that some pests will appear early and have the potential to cause serious damage on a large scale. Especially leaf blast, neck blast, bacterial leaf blight, various types of planthoppers, harmful rats, ... fall armyworms that damage corn.

For irrigation water for spring crop production, localities in Yen Thanh area carry out renovation of works, embankments, dredging canals... combined with the 16/10 irrigation campaign, clearing the scope of irrigation works, ensuring enough water for production. At the same time, continue to implement the programcanal consolidation, implementing JICA project on investment in upgrading main canals, level 1 and 2 canals.

Based on the specific water resources available in the locality, communes in the district have plans for crop structure as well as reasonable crop structure conversion; Develop scientific irrigation plans, thoroughly save water to ensure both spring crop production in 2022 and summer-autumn crop production in 2022.

In addition, the district directed communes to clean the fields, instruct farmers to plow and dry the fields, then use water to create a good intensive foundation for spring planting; Implement the conversion of crop structure in areas with potential water shortages and ineffective rice growing areas in the 2022 spring crop; Coordinate with Yen Thanh Irrigation Enterprise to proactively develop specific drought prevention plans right from the beginning of the production season.
