Yen Thanh urgently responds to African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - As a locality bordering districts that have had and are having African swine fever such as Quynh Luu, Tan Ky, Do Luong, Nghi Loc, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh is actively implementing epidemic prevention measures.
Hop Thanh is a commune adjacent to Dien Thai commune, Dien Chau district, where African swine fever is breaking out and difficult to control. In this situation, the commune government has stepped up propaganda and education to households on care, disease prevention and monitoring of the herd; at the same time, it has inspected and strictly handled cases of trading and selling pork products of unknown origin at the market and on the roads.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Truong - Vice Chairman of Hop Thanh Commune People's Committee said: In recent days, the Commune Veterinary Board has sprinkled lime powder on the main routes into the area; strengthened the control of transportation, slaughtering of pigs and products from the centralized slaughterhouse, and at the same time strengthened the epidemic prevention team, established mobile inspection teams operating on the routes, especially the section of National Highway 7B from Cau Ba bordering Dien Thai Commune to Phu Thanh Commune; regularly inspected the slaughterhouse area and disinfected after the market sessions.

To urgently respond to African swine fever, the commune deployed 30 liters of chemicals and lime powder to disinfect key areas; inspected and supervised the sanitation of barns and instructed livestock households to apply biosafety measures, especially injecting additional necessary vaccines for pigs to prevent disease.
The district has established a Steering Committee, assigned responsibilities to members and proposed measures to respond to the epidemic. Plans, telegrams, and directives have been promptly issued. In addition, the livestock and veterinary sector regularly updates information on epidemics to inform people, farm owners, and households to proactively implement epidemic prevention solutions.
Strengthen disease surveillance, animal quarantine, slaughter control and veterinary hygiene control. Resolutely handle the situation of small-scale trading of pork of unknown origin on traffic routes.

Yen Thanh District People's Committee is also focusing on directing communes, towns, and the District Police to establish mobile working groups to prevent and detect cases of transporting pigs of unknown origin into the area.
For areas threatened by the epidemic within a radius of 3km around the epidemic outbreak such as: Hop Thanh, Phu Thanh, Nhan Thanh, Hong Thanh, Hoa Thanh, Vinh Thanh, Tho Thanh, Do Thanh, Van Thanh, My Thanh, Tan Thanh, Son Thanh... it is necessary to strictly control the movement of pigs in and out of the area, and carry out mandatory vaccination for pigs when entering and re-herding.
For buffer zone communes within a radius of 3 km to 10 km around the epidemic, it is necessary to strictly comply with epidemic prevention regulations, monitor and promptly report on the development of the pig herd for timely handling and containment in a small area.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district said: Up to now, the district has provided 605 liters of Ben coxit chemicals and additional lime powder and funding to establish checkpoints on some key routes; at the same time, established 5 teams to conduct inspections of key communes and farms, urging breeders to implement the proposed solutions and strictly comply with the response to African swine fever and absolutely not be subjective or negligent in epidemic prevention work.
