An outbreak of H5N1 avian influenza has occurred in Yen Thanh district.

(Baonghean.vn) - Following the announcement of an avian influenza outbreak in Son Thanh hamlet, Hung Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district has implemented a comprehensive set of measures to control the outbreak.

Earlier, in Son Thanh hamlet, Hung Thanh commune, two households discovered their chickens had died for unknown reasons. Local authorities promptly disposed of 117 chickens in accordance with regulations.

Following the positive H5N1 test results from the Regional Veterinary Department III, on March 29th and 30th, Yen Thanh district declared an H5N1 avian influenza outbreak in Hung Thanh commune and other communes within the threatened area, including Dong Thanh, Phuc Thanh, Hau Thanh, and Lang Thanh.

The district has received 50,000 doses of vaccine as part of the first phase of support from the province. On March 30th, under the direction of the district's Department of Agriculture, Hung Thanh commune organized vaccination for nearly 44,000 poultry belonging to 240 residents of Son Thanh hamlet and is continuing to request support from the province for vaccines and 500 liters of chemicals to serve the disease prevention and control work in the area.

Looking ahead, the risk of disease outbreaks in poultry flocks is very high due to certain reasons. To proactively prevent, control, contain, and isolate the H5N1 avian influenza outbreak within a limited area, minimize economic losses, and ensure no impact on human health, Yen Thanh district is resolutely implementing a comprehensive set of disease prevention and control measures in accordance with the Veterinary Law.
