Russia has repeatedly voiced its opposition to NATO's military activities near its borders, saying the military alliance is upsetting the regional security balance and threatening Moscow's security.
Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Vladimir Shamanov said on October 12 that Moscow will deploy additional Iskander strategic missiles to the Kaliningrad region in response to recent US military build-up in the Baltic region. Moscow said that Washington is secretly deploying an armored division to the Baltic, which is a violation of the agreement between Moscow and NATO.
