1,400 billion VND to build a national cemetery
Yen Trung Cemetery, covering an area of 120 hectares, with similar functions to Mai Dich Cemetery, will be located in the suburbs of Hanoi.
Morning of February 1,Hanoi People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Construction to organize theCeremony to announce the detailed construction planning at scale 1/500 of Yen Trung Cemetery, Thach That district, Hanoi.
NYen Trung cemetery is located at the foot of Ba Vi mountain, 40 km west of Hanoi center. The north and west border Ba Vi National Park; the east borders hills and Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh highway; the south borders hills and residential areas.
The total area of the cemetery is 120 hectares, including a burial area of 72 hectares and a landscaped green buffer area of over 47 hectares. Yen Trung Cemetery will have 2,200 - 2,500 graves; each grave has an area of 25 - 35 square meters. The landscaped area can accommodate 5,000 people.
The project will take approximately 36 months to complete, with the first phase building connecting roads, service areas, holiday areas, memorial and burial areas. The remaining areas will be invested in when needed.
The estimated capital of more than 1,400 billion VND will be taken from the state budget. The project also identified a resettlement area of 9.38 hectares, providing accommodation for 105 households subject to relocation.

"With its responsibility and affection, the Hanoi People's Committee will closely coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to quickly complete this project. The City People's Committee commits to making the best use of resources to implement the project, ensuring quality and progress," said the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
Hanoi has Mai Dich cemetery (Cau Giay district) as the burial place for high-ranking leaders.Exploited since 1982, this 5.9 hectare cemetery has run out of usable area.
According to the Capital Cemetery Planning to 2030 with a vision to 2050, Mai Dich cemetery will be upgraded to a cemetery park with a scale of 5.5 hectares to 5.8 hectares.
