1 person died, 4 people are in critical condition in a bus accident in Lao Cai

That is the latest information about the consequences of a serious bus accident that occurred in Tong Sanh commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province at 6:00 p.m. on March 3.

Mr. Pham An Hung, Director of Lao Cai General Hospital, said that all hospital fees will be waived for patients being treated at the hospital.
"We have gathered all the means with the best treatment conditions, mobilized all experienced doctors to actively treat the patient. In addition to waiving 100% of hospital fees, meals for the patient's family and the patient were provided promptly after receiving the patient," said Mr. Pham An Hung.
In addition to 50 reserve blood units, a working group from the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion is on its way to Lao Cai to be ready to treat patients.
At the hospital, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee and leaders of Lao Cai province met with the family and conveyed condolences from Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia to the family of the unfortunate victim who died as well as the families of the victims.
"We have requested the leaders of Lao Cai province and the police force to urgently investigate and verify the cause of the incident and strictly handle the organizations and individuals who violated and allowed this particularly serious accident to occur," Mr. Khuat Viet Hung stated at a working session with Lao Cai province's general hospital.
At the same time, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung highly appreciated the efforts of the medical staff of the provincial general hospital and medical facilities in the province for giving the highest priority to medical care and accommodation conditions for patients and relatives of the victims.
Previously, at 6:00 p.m. on March 3, at km 17, National Highway 4D, the road from Sa Pa to Lao Cai city, passing through Tong Sanh commune, Bat Xat district, a 29-seat passenger bus with license plate 29B - 01122 carrying 22 passengers plunged into a ravine with an estimated depth of 52m.

According to initial information, the deceased victim was Ms. Truong Thi Nhung (born in 1977).
Immediately after the accident, leaders of Lao Cai province and Bat Xat district promptly arrived at the scene to direct rescue work.
Lao Cai Provincial Police, Bat Xat District Police, rescue police, and fire prevention and fighting forces, including 200 people, searched for and rescued victims and protected the scene of the accident.
