Facebook had 278 million daily active users (DAUs) in Europe in Q3 2018, down from 279 million in Q2 2018, while monthly active users (MAUs) also fell from 376 million to 375 million, indicating a downward trend in Facebook usage in Europe.
Although the number of daily active users (DAUs) decreased in Europe, the number worldwide still increased slightly to 1.5 billion users (compared to 1.47 billion users in Q2/2018).
Facebook has been in the news this year after it was accused of misusing the data of millions of users, including those in Europe. Facebook was accused of exposing the information of at least 30,000 million users between July 2017 and September 2018. In March 2018, Facebook was embroiled in another scandal when it was revealed that Cambridge Analytica had illegally accessed the data of 50 million US users during the 2016 presidential election campaign.
