10 staff and teachers teach 21 students
(Baonghean.vn) - This is a rare event at the Con Cuong District Continuing Education Center. The reason is that for many years, the school has not recruited enough high school students for the Continuing Education program.
In the 2016-2017 school year, the Con Cuong District Continuing Education Center enrolled 3 10th grade students, a very small number compared to the set target. This situation also occurred many years ago because up to now, the total number of 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students of the entire center is only 21 students.
The highest number of students is in grade 12 with 12 students, grade 11 with 6 students and grade 10 with 3 students. This number may fluctuate in the next few weeks, because according to teacher Nguyen Thi Yen, homeroom teacher of grade 11, out of 6 students in the class, 2 female students have been absent for many weeks. In the past, the homeroom teacher has come many times to encourage the students to go to school, but after only a few sessions, they continue to skip school.

Although the number of students is very small, to ensure the rights of students, the Continuing Education Center still organizes to teach enough subjects for students. However, instead of teaching on weekdays, the class is moved to weekends. The reason for this "abnormality" is because according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Que - Director of the Center: The students are mainly married and working. Therefore, if the class is organized on weekdays, they cannot attend and may drop out.
Also according to the school leader: Enrollment in the continuing education system is becoming more and more difficult because currently the number of high school students in the area has "shrinked" a lot. In recent years, students entering high schools do not have to take entrance exams, so students in the area flock to public schools. Those who do not go to high school, they transfer to vocational schools because they have both a vocational degree and a high school diploma...
For that reason, those who register to study at the Continuing Education Center are mainly old (too old to attend high school) or have family problems, or are commune and village officials who go to school to popularize secondary education.

Although the facilities are quite spacious, most days of the week the center's classrooms are closed. |
One drawback is that although there are very few students, the school cannot implement the solution of "entering the class" or "not organizing teaching" because there is no equivalent model in the area. To maintain the class, in addition to 7 staff and teachers (for organization and teaching), the school also has to hire 3 more teachers of Literature, History, and Geography to take on all the subjects.
It is known that this is also the common situation of the continuing education centers in the province at present, although each year the enrollment quota of the centers is from 30 to 50 students. For example, at the continuing education center of Quy Chau district, in the 2016-2017 school year, it only recruited 6 10th grade students, Que Phong district: recruited 8 students... As for Tuong Duong district, it did not recruit a single case.
