Hanoi's Nhat Tan Bridge, Da Nang's Dragon Bridge, and Ho Chi Minh City's Phu My Bridge are considered unique architectural works and have become symbols of the cities' development.

1. Nhat Tan Bridge

The Nhat Tan Bridge was built to become a new symbol of the capital city, with its five tower spans representing the five gates of Hanoi.

Nhat Tan Bridge is the longest cable-stayed bridge spanning the Red River (connecting Dong Anh District and Tay Ho District), with a total investment of 13,626 billion VND. Construction began in 2009 and was completed five years later. The main bridge section is 3.7 km long with a continuous cable-stayed design supported by five towers (symbolizing the five gates of Hanoi), while the approach roads are 5.1 km long and 60 m wide with four lanes.

Inaugurated earlier this year, Nhat Tan Bridge is one of the very few continuous, multi-span cable-stayed bridges in the world that applies steel anchor box technology on the tower piers, and a system for measuring cable tension, reinforcement stress, and steel girder stress – the first of its kind in Vietnam. The bridge not only serves transportation but also becomes an architectural and landscape highlight in the northern gateway area of ​​Hanoi.

2. Pá Uôn Bridge

The Pá Uôn Bridge holds the record for having the tallest bridge piers in Vietnam.

The Pá Uôn Bridge is located on National Highway 279, crossing the Đà River reservoir (in Chiềng Ơn commune, Quỳnh Nhai district, Sơn La province), about 70 km from Sơn La city. This is a vital transportation route connecting Sơn La with other Northwestern provinces such as Lai Châu, Điện Biên, and Lào Cai.

The bridge was inaugurated in 2012 with a total investment of 528 billion VND. It is over 1.4 km long, with the main bridge section nearly one kilometer long and 9 meters wide. The bridge consists of two abutments and 11 piers, the main pier being over 98 meters high. If measured from the riverbed to the bridge deck, the height is nearly 104 meters. This is also the bridge with the tallest piers in Vietnam.

3. Phu My Bridge

Phu My Bridge is considered an iconic bridge of Ho Chi Minh City.

With an investment of 2,077 billion VND, the Phu My Bridge connecting District 2 and District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City commenced construction in February 2005. At the time of its inauguration on National Day in 2009, Phu My was the largest cable-stayed bridge in the country, with a length of over 2 km, a clearance of 45 m for ship traffic, and was considered an iconic bridge of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the investor, this is also the most modern cable-stayed bridge in the world in terms of cable-stayed technology; there are only a few bridges like it in the world.

4. Dragon Bridge

The artistic lighting design for the Dragon Bridge has won numerous international awards.

Completed in early 2013 after nearly four years of construction with an investment of over 1,700 billion VND, the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang City is 666 m long and 37.5 m wide; each direction has 3 lanes for vehicles and sidewalks for pedestrians.

The bridge, modeled after the shape of a dragon from the Ly Dynasty flying towards the East Sea, has a steel span with a total length of 568 meters and weighs nearly 9,000 tons. This is a uniquely designed bridge, a single-arch steel bridge designed by Louis Berger Group (USA), the only one of its kind in Southeast Asia to date.

The artistic lighting design for the Dragon Bridge (Da Nang) won two prestigious international awards: the FX Design Awards 2013 and the Lighting Design Awards 2014, selecting it as one of the world's outstanding lighting design projects. In addition, the lighting project for the Dragon Bridge in Da Nang also received a Special Recognition Award from the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD Awards), alongside many other renowned projects across various continents.

5. Han River Swing Bridge

The Han River Swing Bridge is the only swing bridge in Vietnam, designed and constructed between 1998 and 2000.

Nearly 500 meters long and 12 meters wide, the bridge connects two central routes between Hai Chau and Son Tra districts (Da Nang City). Every day, at 1 AM, the middle section of the bridge rotates 90 degrees to allow large ships to pass through. This phenomenon sparks curiosity among locals and tourists visiting the city.

6. Thuan Phuoc Bridge

Thuan Phuoc is the longest modern cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam. The bridge, connecting the two sides of Da Nang Bay, has a total length of 1.8 km and a width of 18 m, with an investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND. It was inaugurated on July 19, 2009, after 6 years of construction.

7. Bai Chay Bridge

The Bai Chay Bridge is nicknamed the "Ha Long Lute".

With a total construction cost of over 2.1 trillion VND, the Bai Chay Bridge, located on National Highway 18, is over 900 meters long and over 25 meters wide, connecting Hon Gai with Bai Chay across the Cua Luc strait, separating Cua Luc Bay from Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh province).

The bridge was inaugurated at the end of 2006 after more than 3 years of construction. It is the first single-plane cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam. At the same time, the Bai Chay Bridge also set a world record for the longest main span (435 m).

8. Can Tho Bridge

The Can Tho Bridge, spanning the Hau River and connecting Can Tho City and Vinh Long Province, is a cable-stayed bridge with the longest main span in Southeast Asia (550 m).

Construction of the bridge began in September 2004 and was completed after 6 years with a total investment of over 4,800 billion VND. The entire project is 15 km long, with the main bridge itself measuring 2.7 km in length and 23 m in width; the clearance for navigation is 39 m, ensuring the passage of ships with a deadweight tonnage of 10,000 DWT.

9. My Thuan Bridge

The My Thuan Bridge, connecting the provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long, is Vietnam's first cable-stayed bridge.

As Vietnam's first cable-stayed bridge spanning the Tien River, My Thuan Bridge connects the two provinces of Tien Giang and Vinh Long, situated on the main transportation axis of the Mekong Delta.

Construction of the bridge began in July 1997 and it was inaugurated three years later. The bridge is over 1.5 km long, nearly 24 m wide, with two approach bridges on each side, each with 11 spans, and each span measuring 40 m. The clearance for navigation is 37.5 m.

10. Thi Nai Bridge

Thi Nai Bridge - the longest sea bridge in Vietnam.

Nearly 7 km long, connecting Quy Nhon city with Phuong Mai peninsula (Nhon Hoi economic zone), Thi Nai is the longest sea bridge in Vietnam, part of the Nhon Hoi bridge and road system.

Construction began in November 2002 and was completed four years later with a total investment of 582 billion VND. The main part of the bridge is 2.4 km long and 14.5 m wide, consisting of 54 spans, each with a span of 120 m.
