10 countries that drink the most beer in the world

Although beer consumption in Vietnam is constantly increasing, it is still not among the 20 countries with the highest beer consumption per capita in the world.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2016, Vietnam consumed more than 3.7 billion liters of beer, meaning that each Vietnamese person drank an average of 42 liters per year. However, this figure is still lower than the country ranked 20th in beer consumption per capita, Portugal, with nearly 60 liters per year. Meanwhile, in the top 10, the country with the lowest beer consumption is Luxembourg with more than 84 liters per year. The world leader in beer drinking ability is Czech. On average, each person in this country consumes nearly 157 liters of beer per year.

Not only Vietnam, but no Asian or African country is in the top 20 of the world in terms of beer consumption per capita. Due to its long-standing culture, European and American countries obviously dominate the top list.

“Even in times of global financial turmoil, there is one thing that people are sure to buy and consume: beer,” CNBC commented.
