10 best-selling cars in the world in the first half of 2016
The Toyota Corolla took the top spot. Meanwhile, the Ford F-series full-size pickup truck outsold both the Hyundai Elantra and the Honda CR-V.
On August 7, Focus2Move Global Mobility Database, a statistics and data analysis site based in Rome, Italy, released a list of the 10 car models with the highest sales in the first half of 2016. Global car sales reached 45.8 million vehicles, up 3% over the same period last year.

According to the list, ToyotaCorollaAlthough down 1.2% compared to the same period last year, Toyota Corolla still holds the "throne" in car sales, reaching 634,000 units. In 2015, Toyota Corolla was the only model to sell more than 1.3 million units in one year.
One step below the Corolla is the Volkswagen Golf, a small car that is quite popular in Europe. However, sales decreased in the US and Canada markets, causing total Golf consumption worldwide to decrease by 1.8%, reaching 500,630 cars.

If the top two spots remain unchanged, Ford will switch places in third and fourth. The F-Series full-size pickup truck will overtake the Focus in third place with nearly half a million units sold. Meanwhile, Focus sales fell 16.4 percent to367,479 vehiclescompared to the number439,584 vehiclesin the first half of 2015.
Hyundai Elantra stagnated in 5th place, recording a 9.7% decrease in sales, reaching363,490 vehicles delivered to customersThe next positions respectively belong to Volkswagen Polo, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Camry, Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Silverado.
