Sully
Expected release date: September 9

Taking the hot topic of aviation in recent years, director Clint Eastwood tells the story of Captain Sully's landing in the Hudson River after a minor accident. Although no one died among the 150 passengers, Sully's life changed completely from then on because the media and the public seemed to have no sympathy for him.
With Tom Hanks in the lead and Warner Bros backing him, Sully is expected to bring Eastwood back to his peak form of more than a decade ago. But if the director remains loyal to the traditional storytelling style like in Jersey Boys, Gran Torino... and forgets about the inner feelings of the character, Sully may only be of average quality.
The Girl on the Train
Expected release date:7/10

Based on the best-selling 2015 detective novel by author Paula Hawkins, the film is about Rachel Watson - a divorced woman - searching for the truth about the mystery of a family she often sees on her way to work every morning. The original book wasclassified as noir (black novel) andbest sellerGone Girl (2012 film).Young director Tate Taylor directed, star Emily Blunt starred in the adaptation project of Dreamworks.
The two-minute-plus trailer confirms that the style is closer to a crime thriller than a work of art with depth. Therefore, The Girl on the Train is unlikely to compete for the Golden Lion at the Venice Festival, which always chooses films with philosophical depth. The Guardian believes that the film could create a fever at the New York or Toronto Festivals, two places with suitable audiences.

After five trips to Cannes and one trip to Berlin, Canadian director Denis Villeneuve is bringing his brainchild to the Venice Film Festival for the first time. Based on the short story Story of Your Life, Arrival depicts an attack from extraterrestrial supernatural forces. Accordingly, Dr. Louise Banks (played by Amy Adams) is the elite chosen to investigate and find a solution to save humanity.

With three Oscar nominations for last year's thriller Sicario, Denis VilleneuveDexpectedis a name that receives favor in the award season and pre-Oscar festivals.

The news that fashion designer Tom Ford’s second feature film will be participating in the Venice Film Festival has made movie lovers guess about the success of the work. Compared to his debut film A Single Man, which competed for the Golden Lion in 2009 and won the Queer Lion for LGBT films, Nocturnal Animals follows a psychological thriller direction. The story revolves around a novel that disrupts the daily life of Susan Morrow and the character in the book written by her husband.
Taking on important roles are Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams... Last year at Cannes, Focus won the film's distribution rights for $20 million. Up to now, the work is scheduled right during the Oscar season, so fans hope for a new breakthrough for Tom Ford as a director and Amy Adams can win an Oscar after five nominations.
Allied
Expected release date:23/11

The film stars Brad Pitt and French beauty Marion Cotillard. Set in Casablanca in 1942 during World War II, Allied is a thrilling and emotional story about the talented and beautiful spies Max Vatan and Marianne Beausejour.
Most experts believe that Allied will easily score points at American or Canadian festivals. While Marion Cotillard is a familiar face at every European festival, actor Brad Pitt has a connection with Toronto and Telluride (through the two films Moneyball and 12 Years a Slave). In addition, director Robert Zemeckis is a "purely American" name with Forrest Gump and Flight. Therefore, the possibility that Allied will not go to Venice because it "doesn't suit your taste" is very high.
