1. The 18th Congress of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term 2015 - 2020

The 18th Provincial Party Executive Committee was introduced and took office.

With the theme "Solidarity, democracy, creativity, development", the Congress objectively recognized the shortcomings and limitations in the term 2010 - 2015, analyzed the causes and discussed solutions to increase the growth rate and socio-economic development of the province in the term 2015 - 2020, striving to become a fairly developed province, the center of the North Central region as set out in Resolution 26 of the Politburo. 2. Strong breakthrough in attracting investment

2015 is considered a year that continues the success of investment attraction activities from previous years. Investment attraction activities are increasingly focused, key, and of higher quality with many large-scale projects and attracting many potential and branded investors. As of November 15, 2015, the whole province has granted new certificates to 111 projects with a total registered investment capital of VND 87,374.52 billion - far exceeding the target set for this year of 100 projects/VND 20,000 billion registered capital (equal to 111% of the number and 408.12% of the registered capital of the 2015 plan).

3. Many key projects have been started.

Some key projects have started construction and are progressing well, such as: VSIP Nghe An Industrial, Urban and Service Park; Hoa Sen Steel Plant 2 in Hoang Mai Town; Yen Xuan Bridge; Nghi Thiet Petroleum Depot, Quynh Lap 1 Thermal Power Plant in Hoang Mai Town (45,000 billion VND), Song Lam Cement Plant with a capacity of 4 million tons of cement/year; Project to upgrade berths 5 and 6 of Cua Lo Port with the ability to receive 2 ships of 30,000 tons at the same time, with a capital of 1,200 billion VND.

4. Comprehensive investment in transport infrastructure system

The year marked the completion and putting into use of many key projects such as: Vinh Airport Passenger Terminal; Railway Overpass Project between National Highway 46 and National Highway 1A and the North-South Railway (Quan Banh section), Tay Nghe An Road, Truong Bon Historical Site, basically opening the National Highway 1A - Nghia Dan - Thai Hoa section and the road to the MDF Wood Factory; Project to upgrade and expand National Highway 1A through Nghe An.

5. Announcement of adjustment of Vinh City Master Plan to 2030

On April 22, 2015, the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Project to Adjust the General Planning of Vinh City, Nghe An Province to 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 52/QD-TTg dated January 14, 2015. Accordingly, the research area for Vinh City development has an area of ​​about 250 km2, the planning scope includes: the entire Vinh City, Cua Lo Town and part of Nghi Loc and Hung Nguyen districts.

6. Nghe An tea is protected as a collective trademark.

Nghe An tea has been granted a collective trademark protection certificate No. 247000 by the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) according to Decision 34735 dated June 15, 2015 of the Ministry of Science and Technology, including: Technical process of production, processing, labels and regulations on the use of labels. This is an important turning point for the Nghe An tea industry in the process of building, developing, promoting and competing in the world market.

7. It is expected that by the end of 2015, 114 communes will meet the NTM criteria.

Thach Giam (Tuong Duong) is the first commune in district 30a in the country to reach the new rural finish line.

As of December 2015, the province had 90 communes meeting 19/19 new rural criteria recognized by the Provincial People's Committee, bringing the total number of communes meeting new rural standards in the province to 77 and 13 communes have completed the assessment. It is expected that by the end of 2015, 114 communes will meet new rural criteria. Of which, Thach Giam commune (Tuong Duong) is the first commune in District 30a nationwide to reach the new rural standard.

8. Patriotic Emulation Congress of Nghe An province, period 2010 - 2015

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan presented the title of Labor Hero in the Renovation Period to Nghe An Newspaper.

The congress took place over two days (September 22 and 23) with the participation of more than 500 delegates, including 222 advanced models. The congress launched the Patriotic Emulation Movement for the period 2016 - 2020 with the theme "Solidarity, creativity, innovation, emulation to build Nghe An to develop rapidly and sustainably, basically becoming an industrial province by 2020". At the congress, the Party Committee and people of Nghe An province were awarded the First Class Independence Medal; Nghe An Newspaper was honored to be the only collective to be awarded the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period.

9. Successfully organized the event to honor Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs

On January 31, 2015, the ceremony to honor and receive the UNESCO Certificate recognizing Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity was successfully held at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh city, Nghe An), leaving many deep impressions in the hearts of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk song lovers throughout the country.

10. After 18 years, Nghe An has a student winning an international math prize.

Hoang Anh Tai and teachers and students of Phan School were delighted when after 18 years of waiting, the Math subject won a medal at the International Olympic competition.

The land of learning Nghe An continues to be listed on many golden lists in 2015. In the 2015 national high school exam, Nghe An had a graduation rate of 95.9%; in this year's national excellent student exam, there were 99 national excellent students, ranking 3rd in the country; 3 students won international awards (1 silver medal at the International Math Olympiad, 1 silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad, 1 gold medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad). In particular, the return of the International Math Olympiad after 18 years of absence was marked with the Silver Medal of Hoang Anh Tai, a former student of class 12A1, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.
