(Baonghean.vn) -On April 19th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held an online meeting to review the socio-economic situation in the first four months of 2012. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ho Duc Phoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, with the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the 20 districts, cities, and towns participating via video conference.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presided over the online briefing meeting.

In the first four months of the year, the province's economic growth rate reached 4.35% (compared to 4.7% nationwide). Specifically, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 2.55%; industry remained at 99% of the same period last year; and services increased by 10.5%. However, during the past four months, many businesses experienced losses and inefficiency (950 businesses ceased operations), and budget revenue collection faced difficulties (the entire province only collected 18% of the plan, and businesses have outstanding tax debts totaling 891 billion VND). Social order and security also present some areas requiring attention.

The conference heard proposals and recommendations from 18 district and city-level units on pressing issues in their respective areas. Directors from the Departments of Planning and Investment, Finance, Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, Health, the Nghe An Tax Department, and the Provincial Police responded to the requests of the relevant district chairmen; they also disseminated new points to note.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc concluded the conference and outlined 10 urgent tasks, requiring districts, cities, towns, and sectors to focus on immediate implementation. He emphasized: Focusing on caring for and preventing diseases in crops and livestock, actively combating drought; paying attention to forest protection and fire prevention. In industry: creating conditions for businesses to overcome difficulties, stabilize, and develop production and business. Focusing on decisively directing the collection of budget revenue and outstanding tax debts. Inspection teams should work urgently and strictly handle units that deliberately delay or evade taxes. Basic construction projects should be reviewed to accelerate progress and ensure the plan is met. Expediting the allocation of land and issuance of certificates for apartment sales and purchases. Regarding security and order: focusing on strengthening traffic safety, addressing cases of proselytization, and illegal land encroachment in religious and ethnic minority areas.
