100,000 people marched to celebrate Putin's 62nd birthday.

Tens of thousands of people marched in Chechnya to celebrate the Russian president's birthday, while an art exhibition about Putin was held in Moscow and people rushed to buy souvenirs featuring his image.

In Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic in Russia, hundreds of thousands of people dressed in the blue, white, and red colors of the Russian flag formed a line over 600 meters long and marched around the city to celebrate the 62nd birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Photo: AP

The procession carried Russian and Chechen flags. Putin arrived in Siberia on October 6th and spent a day off on his birthday, October 7th. This was the first time he had taken a day off in his last 15 birthdays. Last year, he met with APEC leaders, drank sake with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and shared a birthday cake with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Photo: AP
