On Friday, the military launched its first attacks against the Boko Haram terrorist group in the cities of Bosso and Diffa in southern Niger, near the Nigerian border. Speaking on national television, Minister Karidjo stated that the military had suffered four fatalities, 17 wounded, and two missing. Meanwhile, Nigerian security forces killed 109 Boko Haram militants. Additionally, one civilian was killed in the attacks.

However, Nigeria has not issued any reports of Chadian troops "supporting" Nigerian troops in the "neutralization of attackers" operation in Bosso. According to a Chadian security source, Yahya Daoud, the commander of Chadian forces deployed to combat Boko Haram in Niger, was shot in Bosso.

Returning to the Nigerian army's battle in Diffa, the military "blocked the Boko Haram advance" at a bridge, and the situation in both areas has now returned to normal. Minister Karidjo announced that the situation remains under military control and stated that the army will continue "continuous sweeping operations."

According to another source, “sporadic gunfire” was still heard late in the afternoon in the city of Bosso. This is the first time the Nigerian army has launched a major operation against the Islamist terrorist group since Boko Haram began its terrorist activities. It is known that on Monday, the Nigerian Parliament approved a commitment allowing its army to cooperate with the armies of Chad and Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram.
