11 projects awarded First Prize at the Science and Technology Competition for high school students

(Baonghean.vn) - The contest has become a useful playground to encourage the spirit of enthusiasm for learning, scientific research, and creativity of high school students across the province, opening up a new direction in education.

On the morning of December 30, the Department of Education and Training held the closing ceremony and awarded prizes to the Provincial Science and Technology Competition for high school students in the 2021-2022 school year.

School year 2021-2022, althoughCovid-19 epidemichas affected learning and scientific research, but the scientific research movement in schools is still maintained and effectively implemented.

Therefore, although this is the first year that the Science and Technology Competition is organized online, the competition still attracts 172 projects in 14 fields from 326 authors at secondary and high school levels. This proves that the competitionScience and Technologyis increasingly spreading throughout all regions of the province with the participation of students from all levels of education from grade 8 to grade 12 in both favorable and difficult areas.

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, most of the projects presented many new scientific ideas; the authors had research skills, proposing quite complete solutions; many projects were practical, highly feasible, demonstrating passion for scientific research, applying learned knowledge into practice and creating a useful playground for secondary and high school students in the whole province.

Many topics approach large, general issues or use advanced techniques in university and hospital laboratories; specialized agencies... This helps train students' scientific research capacity and shows the connection between high schools and universities and specialized agencies.

In addition, some topics raise the issue of innovation and integration to have smart devices to meet the needs of the community in health care, production, learning and life services.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee selected 119 projects that won provincial prizes, including 11 first prizes; 26 second prizes; 40 third prizes; 42 fourth prizes and awarded prizes to 6 contestants with excellent results.

In addition, the 3 best projects were selected to participate in the National Science and Technology Competition held in March 2022 online.

That is the project "Research on building an artificial intelligence system to automatically diagnose pneumonia in the context of the widespread Covid-19 epidemic" by authors Ho Ngoc Lam and Nguyen Minh Tam, students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted;

Project "Research on manufacturing conductive ink based on graphene"graphene) from Vietnamese graphite for smart applications" by authors Tran Bui Huy Hoang, Ha Huy Tap High School and Phung Dinh An Khang, student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Project "Research and development of smart fire alarm monitoring system based on 4.0 AI and IoT technology platform" by authors Nguyen Danh Nhan and Vo Van Hai, students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

The Science and Technology Competition aims to encourage high school students to research science and technology and apply knowledge of subjects to solve real-life problems.

This is a very meaningful activity when the whole industry is currently striving to successfully implement the 2018 General Education Program with the goal of developing learners' capacity and qualities.

This activity contributes to promoting teaching and learning linked to practice, implementing STEM education associated with scientific and technological research, project-based teaching, and at the same time promoting teachers to self-train and improve their professional capacity, meeting the effective implementation of the 2018 General Education Program.
