11 countries participate in anti-piracy maritime exercises
The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) announced on May 14 that naval officials from around the world had gathered in the country to participate in an international exercise on anti-piracy and maritime crime, called "Bell Buoy," taking place at Devonport Naval Base in Auckland from May 13-24.

The statement said the exercise aimed to protect maritime trade based on the humanitarian assistance mission in the Southwest Pacific.
The Bell Buoy exercise involved the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, Singapore, Argentina, Uruguay and New Zealand.
This exercise will help develop and test professional skills in disaster relief operations, humanitarian assistance and civil maritime operations in unstable areas with piracy and illegal fishing./.
