11 events throughout the National Tourism Year 2015

With the theme "Connecting World Heritage Sites," the 2015 National Tourism Year program in Thanh Hoa will be held throughout 2015 with 11 distinctive cultural and tourism events.

The National Tourism Year 2015 program has just been officially issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 2111/QD-BVHTTDL. Accordingly, out of the 11 main events of the National Tourism Year 2015, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will direct and coordinate with central ministries and agencies to organize 6 events, while the remaining 5 events will be organized by Thanh Hoa province.

Specifically, the six events directed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism include: the World Heritage Festival; an exhibition of large-format propaganda posters promoting major national holidays in 2015 and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Ham Rong victory; national and international sports events; the "Singing Songs Connecting Rivers" festival of the expanded North Central provinces; the Food Festival of provinces/cities with World Heritage sites; and the Journey Connecting World Heritage Sites.

The five events organized by Thanh Hoa province are: the Opening and Closing Ceremony – Summary of the 2015 National Tourism Year - Thanh Hoa; the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Ham Rong Victory; the International Stone Sculpture Workshop; and the Beach Tourism Festival.

In addition, within the framework of the 2015 National Tourism Year, there will be events organized by provinces/cities with World Heritage sites scattered throughout the year, such as: Hung Temple Festival 2015 (Phu Tho); Commemoration of the 5th anniversary of Thang Long Imperial Citadel being recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site, Co Loa Temple Festival (Hanoi); Ha Long Carnival 2015, Yen Tu Festival (Quang Ninh); Commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the founding of Bac Giang province, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda Festival (Bac Giang); Returning to the Quan Ho region (Bac Ninh); Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Festival, Traditional Festival of worshipping Saint Quy Minh Dai Vuong (Ninh Binh); 3rd Nghe An Folk Song Festival 2015, National Sen Village Festival 2015 (Nghe An); Commemoration of the 250th birthday of the great poet Nguyen Du, Professional art festival, amateur art festival, creative camp (Ha Tinh); Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2015 (Thua Thien Hue); Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, "Summer Rendezvous" Program 2015 (Da Nang); Quang Nam Festival - Heritage Journey (Quang Nam); Central Highlands Gong Festival (Gia Lai); Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival (Ho Chi Minh City); Da Lat Flower Festival 2015 (Lam Dong).

The 2015 National Tourism Year - Thanh Hoa was organized to focus all resources, promote tourism, and build a destination brand to attract tourists to Thanh Hoa and the region in 2015 and subsequent years; to raise awareness among all levels, sectors, and the people about tourism development associated with the preservation and promotion of heritage values; and to contribute to the development of heritage tourism in provinces and cities, making it a distinctive tourism product of each region. At the same time, it aimed to build and enhance the image of Vietnamese tourism in general and Thanh Hoa tourism in particular in the eyes of tourists; and to promote tourism linkages between localities participating in the National Tourism Year to leverage their strengths and potential…
