The Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) has just released a list of 12 nutritional formula products contaminated with Salmonella Poona that have been imported into Vietnam.

Previously, on January 28, 2019, the Food Safety Department received information from the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) about a food safety incident involving a number of infants infected with Salmonella Poona in France. An investigation was conducted in France and found a link between the sick infants and the use of a number of formula nutritional products.

Upon receiving this information, the Food Safety Department immediately contacted the company importing the above products in Vietnam to urgently recall all batches of products that were warned on the market and report the recall results to the Food Safety Department daily for monitoring.

At the same time, the Department has sent urgent documents to customs agencies and state inspection agencies to stop importing batches of products that have been warned at border gates and requested 63 food safety sub-departments nationwide to monitor batches of products that have been warned and recall them immediately upon discovery.

Faced with such information, the Food Safety Department recommends that consumers absolutely do not use products with the above-mentioned warning names and batch numbers and immediately notify local authorities when discovering warning products on the market.

The Department is continuing to contact the INFOSAN contact in France to update more detailed information and product images so that consumers can easily identify the product.
