15 people died in traffic accidents on April 30

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thai - Chief of Office of Traffic Safety Committee said that on April 30 - the second day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, there were 28 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 15 people and injuring 26 people. Of which, 28 accidents occurred on roads, killing 15 people and injuring 26 people. On the highway, there was 1 collision, damaging 2 cars, no casualties.
Compared to yesterday, April 29, (15 traffic accidents, killing 8 people, injuring 11 people) increased by 13 accidents, 7 deaths and 15 injuries. Compared to the second day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday last year, all three criteria increased. Specifically, there were 7 more accidents, 3 more deaths and 6 more injuries.
Regarding the handling of violations of the Road Traffic Law, the report of the National Traffic Safety Committee said that the national road traffic police inspected and handled 6,756 violations; fined 2 billion 388 million VND; detained 34 cars, 1,175 motorbikes; revoked 215 driving licenses of all kinds. Waterways inspected and handled 456 violations of traffic safety order; fined 142 million VND.
According to Mr. Thai, on April 30, the National Traffic Safety Committee received 32 calls and messages from people on the hotline complaining about ticket price increases, overcrowding, carrying more passengers than allowed, and traffic congestion on some routes. "After receiving the calls on the hotline, the National Traffic Safety Committee requested relevant units to conduct inspections and handle the information according to the content of the information reported," Mr. Thai said.
Previously, the National Traffic Safety Committee reported that on the first day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, there were 15 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 8 people and injuring 11 others.
