Heavy rains on the 20th and 21st of this month caused landslides in several areas, killing 16 people.

Sinuol Khamdy, head of the Public Works and Transport Department of Oudomxay province in northern Laos, said that the village of Phirhuanam suffered the most severe damage in the recent landslide, with 10 deaths, including 5 women.

Heavy rains also caused landslides on many roads, disrupting traffic, and destroyed power lines.

In addition, heavy rains and landslides caused the death of many livestock and poultry, destroyed crops, etc., with total damages amounting to tens of billions of kip.

Other northern provinces such as Louangphabang, Xiangkhouang, and Luang Namtha have also been affected by heavy rains in recent days.
