19 clubs participate in the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival in 2023

On the morning of August 3, in Vinh city, the opening ceremony of the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival 2023, at the inter-provincial level of Nghe An - Ha Tinh, took place.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Quoc Huy - Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Colonel Vo Van Hai - Deputy Chief of Politics of Military Region 4; Tran Xuan Luong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Tinh province.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Ngoc Kim Nam - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; comrades of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Thi My Hanh - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.

With the theme "Two banks of Vi and Giam", the 2023 Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival is jointly organized by the People's Committees of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, taking place from August 3 to 5. Participating in the Festival are 19 excellent Vi and Giam Folk Song Clubs selected from the Festivals of the two provinces held last July, of which Nghe An province has 12 clubs and Ha Tinh province has 7 clubs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival in 2023, Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province said: Over the past nearly a decade, the authorities and people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces have joined hands and made efforts to come up with many positive solutions to protect heritage in a way that adapts to the times.

In particular, the rotation of organizing the Inter-Provincial Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival is a practical activity within the national action program and is also the most vivid proof to affirm to the international community Vietnam's commitment to preserving and promoting the values ​​of intangible cultural heritage representing humanity.

Towards the 10th anniversary of Vi and Giam folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity (2014 - 2024), this year, Nghe An province presided over and coordinated with Ha Tinh province to organizeNghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festivalwith the theme "Vi, Giam - Shining quintessence". The 2023 Nghe Tinh Interprovincial Vi, Giam Folk Song Festival in Nghe An - Ha Tinh is one of the activities within the Vi, Giam Folk Song Festival Program held for the first time in Nghe An.

"This is a meaningful cultural activity to honor and affirm the eternal value of Vi and Giam; at the same time, creating a large stage, a useful and healthy playground for mass art to shine and spread to all classes of people.

This is also an opportunity for artists, actors of clubs and people of Nghe An - Ha Tinh provinces to exchange, learn and share experiences; thereby, continuing to promote the folk song singing movement so that more and more people love and know how to sing folk songs, not only in Nghe An - Ha Tinh provinces, but also widely spread to the Nghe community far from home, people across the country and internationally", Comrade Bui Dinh Long emphasized.

After the opening ceremony, there were performances by folk song clubs: Nghi Long Commune, Nghi Loc District (Nghe An); Nguyen Cong Tru, Nghi Xuan District (Ha Tinh); Tam Quang Commune, Tuong Duong District (Nghe An) and Son Truong Commune, Huong Son District (Ha Tinh).

The award ceremony of the 2023 Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival will be held at the "Shining Heritage Land" Street Festival on the evening of August 5.
