Opening remarksNghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival 2023, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized: Over hundreds of years, the folk heritage of Vi and Giam has been passed down, inherited, supplemented, and created to better adapt to the environment, social circumstances and new historical conditions.

On November 27, 2014, Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs were recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity, becoming the pride of the nation and the people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces. This is an important milestone in preserving and promoting the value of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk song heritage, raising the visibility of the domestic and international community towards a heritage rich in identity of a cultural region.

Over the past decade, the authorities and people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces have joined hands and hearts, constantly making efforts with many positive solutions to protect, raise awareness, and diversify, popularize, and practice folk songs among all classes of people, demonstrating the aspirations and commitments of the authorities and the community in protecting and promoting the cultural heritage of Vi and Giam folk songs.

The quintessence of the intelligence, soul and temperament of the people of Nghe Tinh is crystallized in the cultural heritage of Vi and Giam folk songs, which serves as the foundation and material for the creation of modern cultural values. Today, we have a meaningful and colorful Festival with the theme "Vi and Giam - Shining quintessence".

The Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival 2023 is a major cultural event with many unique cultural and sports activities and is a place to connect the quintessence and national cultural identities representing regions across the country to converge and harmonize on the land of Nghe An, a land of talented people.

"Through the Festival, Nghe An province wishes to turn this event into a large-scale cultural and tourism activity, aiming to build Nghe An cultural and tourism products and brands on the basis of traditional cultural heritage values; promote exchange activities, create opportunities to connect cultural heritage with localities across the country; Strengthen the spirit of solidarity, cohesion and cooperation for mutual development", the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee affirmed.

Enhance responsibility for preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage

At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong acknowledged, highly appreciated and congratulated the results achieved by Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in protecting and promoting the value of the cultural heritage of Vi and Giam folk songs.

The Deputy Minister suggested: In order for Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs to truly spread and survive, the authorities of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces need to continue promoting propaganda and education activities to raise awareness and responsibility of the whole society, especially the young generation in Nghe An and Ha Tinh, for protecting and promoting the cultural heritage value of Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk songs.

At the same time, increase investment in resources for the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, including the heritage of Vi and Giam folk songs. Effectively implement short-term and long-term policies and plans on the conservation and promotion of the value of Vi and Giam folk songs of Nghe Tinh, focusing on supporting communities, clubs and artisans to organize the teaching, performance and promotion of Vi and Giam folk songs; restore and circulate traditional melodies and forms of performance; expand new forms and living environments, in line with the goal of protecting and promoting the value of Vi and Giam folk songs in contemporary life.

In addition, strengthen the introduction and promotion of the value of Vi and Giam folk songs at home and abroad. Based on the province's annual foreign affairs programs and plans on international exchange and cooperation to promote Vi and Giam folk songs abroad; build Vi and Giam folk songs into a typical tourism product of Nghe An...

At the opening ceremony, delegates, people and tourists enjoyed the Art Program with the theme "Vi, Giam - Shining Essence", jointly staged and performed by the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An and the Vietnam National Music, Dance and Dance Theater.

The Art Program includes 3 chapters: Chapter 1 - The source of heritage; Chapter 2 - The love of Vi and Giam; Chapter 3 - Shining quintessence.

The program featured performances by People's Artists Tien Dung and Hong Luu; Meritorious Artist Pham Phuong Thao, singers Vu Thang Loi, Bui Le Man, Thanh Quy, Thanh Tai, Hong Duyen, Ha Quynh Nhu, Huyen Trang (Sao Mai) and especially the participation of two foreign singers, Kyo York (USA) and Cee Jay (Nigeria).

According to the announced plan, the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival will take place from July 28 to August 5 in Vinh city.

The main activities at the Festival include: Opening and closing ceremonies of the Festival; Folk song performance of the three regions; Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam folk song festival; “Heritage colors” street festival; Marathon “Returning to the Vi and Giam region”.

In particular, the Folk Song Festival of 3 regions and the Street Festival "Colors of Heritage" had the participation of 29 provinces and cities nationwide; the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival had the participation of 20 Vi and Giam Folk Song clubs of the two provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh; the Marathon "Returning to the Vi and Giam region" had the participation of more than 5,000 athletes nationwide.
