2 young SLNA players are among the top young talents of Football Manager

Recently, the very famous football management game Football Manager has released a list of promising football wonderkids in 2022. Notably, 2 faces ofSLNANguyen Canh Tiep (goalkeeper) and Nguyen Van Bach (midfielder) were selected for this list.

In addition to representatives of Vietnam in general and SLNA in particular, some rising stars of Southeast Asia such as Jakkapong Sanmahung (Thailand/Chonburi), Alexandro Felix Kamuru (Indonesia/Barito Putera), Ronaldo Kwateh (Indonesia/Madura Utd), Supriadi (Indonesia/Persebaya), Marselino Ferdinan (Indonesia/Persebaya), Arif Aiman ​​(Malaysia/Johor), Warakorn Thongbai (Thailand/Nongbua Pitchaya), Suphanat Mueanta (Buriram Utd/Thailand) or Sieng Chanthea (Boeung Ket/Cambodia) are also on this list.

Goalkeeper Nguyen Canh Tiep, who shone brightly in the 2020 National U17 team, helped SLNA win the championship of that tournament. Canh Tiep himself made an important contribution to the victory on penalties against PVF and made a great last-minute save against Nutifood Academy in the final.

The best goalkeeper of the 2020 National U17 tournament is considered by GOAL international as the gem of SLNA at this time. Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Bach of SLNA also shined brightly in the 2020 National U17 and was voted the best player of the tournament. GOAL assessed that with his technique, speed and physique, Bach will soon become the hope of SLNA as well as the national team levels.

One notable point is that, although they won the 2020 National U17 Championship with SLNA and won the titles of Best Goalkeeper and Best Player of the tournament, initially, Canh Tiep and Van Bach were not selected by Mr. Philippe Troussier, who was then the head coach of Vietnam U17, to be on the training list.

Mr. Troussier explained at that time: “This is the preliminary list of the first training session and is not immutable because everything will change and be supplemented many times in the coming time. Just like the U19 team, I also trained the first two times with almost different lists and then selected a relatively satisfactory list. Therefore, the door is still wide open for other players that I will call later. As for why there are no names in this training session that are generally considered to be outstanding, I have my own perspective on choosing people. Maybe those are positions that I already know and appreciate so there is no need to call them and maybe they have not shown to be superior to the other players that I have chosen. I monitor and evaluate each position depending on whether their abilities meet the professional requirements that I set out or not. I have to fully check each person so as not to miss out on talent...”.
