2 "huge" Ngoc Linh ginseng roots are priced at over 1 billion
Introduced as natural Ngoc Linh ginseng that is decades old, the owner offered a price of more than 1 billion VND for 2 ginseng roots weighing nearly 2 kg.
As usual, from the 1st to the 3rd of every month, in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province, Ngoc Linh ginseng market will take place to introduce and sell Ngoc Linh ginseng, products made from ginseng and medicinal herbs, specialties of Tra My mountains and forests.
The special thing about the ginseng market opening on March 1st was the appearance of 2 "huge" Ngoc Linh ginseng roots, priced by their owner at over 1 billion VND.

Specifically, the first Ngoc Linh ginseng root is currently owned by Ms. Ngo Thi Minh Thuy, weighing nearly 1.1 kg. Ms. Thuy said that this ginseng root was dug up in the forest by Mr. Ho Van Hy (village 4, Tra Linh Commune, Nam Tra My District) before Tet. During the digging process, this ginseng root broke into many different branches.
Ms. Thuy said that based on her experience, this ginseng root is from dozens to 100 years old. She did not disclose the price she bought it from Mr. Hy, but said it would cost over 600 million VND to sell. In response to some concerns about the quality, Ms. Thuy said she was willing to have it tested if a "big shot" agreed to buy it at a high price.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuong (residing in Tra Cang commune, Nam Tra My district) also brought to the market a ginseng root weighing nearly 0.8 kg, nearly 1 meter tall including the stem. She also said that this Ngoc Linh ginseng root was dug up by a resident living on Ngoc Linh peak before Tet while searching for ginseng in the forest, it is dozens of years old.
The price that Ms. Thuong offered was over 400 million VND. As of the afternoon of March 1, both of these "huge" ginseng roots had not yet found a new owner.
Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Tra My district, said that although there is no technical equipment to determine the quality of the two "huge" ginseng roots above, based on his own experience and the members of the appraisal team at the ginseng market, the two ginseng roots above are real Ngoc Linh ginseng. Mr. Buu also assured that all ginseng sold at the market is real Ngoc Linh ginseng, and he himself will take full responsibility if fake ginseng is mixed into the market.
In recent years, the value of Ngoc Linh ginseng has become widely known, so the price on the market has also increased rapidly. However, the appearance of fake ginseng on the market has caused consumers to lose confidence.
