Two leaders of anti-state activities sentenced to life in prison

The presiding judge determined that the defendants' actions were dangerous to society and violated the political regime of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

After 3 days, this afternoon, March 18, the People's Court of Dien Bien province announced the verdict in the criminal case of Sung A Sinh and his accomplices for their propaganda and anti-state activities that occurred in Muong Nhe district, Dien Bien province., with 2 life sentencesfor leaders.

The trial panel determined that the defendants' actions were dangerous to society and violated the political regime of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

At the trial, on behalf of the Trial Panel, Mr. Pham Van Nam - Chief Justice of the People's Court of Dien Bien Province, the presiding judge of the trial, stated: The defendants' actions are dangerous to society, infringing upon the political regime of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as stipulated in the Constitution and having sufficient elements constituting the crimes of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government", "Propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" and "Concealing criminals" as prescribed in Articles 109, 88, 389 of the Penal Code. Therefore, it is necessary to apply a strict punishment, commensurate with each criminal act committed by the defendants.

After applying aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the Trial Panel of the People's Court of Dien Bien province sentenced: Sung A Sinh to life in prison for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government"; Lau A Lenh to life in prison for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government", 7 years in prison for the crime of "Propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam", the total sentence is life in prison; Hoang Van Pao to 20 years in prison for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government"; Sung A Do, Giang A Va, Sung A Sinh, Giang A Dia, Giang A Sinh, Ho A Hu, Chang A Sua, Hoang Van Cho to 8 years in prison for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government"; Thao A Khu, Phang A Minh, Phang A Lanh to 24 months in prison for the crime of "Concealing criminals".

The ringleaders of the case, Sung A Sinh and Lau A Lenh, were both sentenced to life in prison for "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government."

In this case, Sung A Sinh and Lau A Lenh played the role of masterminds, initiators of the establishment of the Mong state and directly drafted the charter, platform, organizational model, and cast the stars and titles; Hoang Van Pao was an effective activist; Sung A Do, Giang A Va, Sung A Sinh, Giang A Dia, Giang A Sinh, Ho A Hu, Chang A Sua, and Hoang Van Cho played the role of accomplices, practitioners, and direct perpetrators of the crime. Regarding Thao A Khu, Phang A Lanh, and Phang A Minh, they clearly knew about the crimes of the above subjects, but did not inform the local authorities and also hindered the investigation process, in order to conceal the crimes of the above defendants.
