Two large rocks threaten houses in Con Cuong
Forces of Con Cuong town (Con Cuong district) are trying to handle two large rocks rolling down from the top of the mountain, threatening people's houses.
On the afternoon of September 20, Mr. Mai Quang Hoi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Cuong town said that in the past few days, heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have occurred in the locality. "Currently, the rock blocks are 5 to 10 meters away from the houses of block 7/8. In this heavy rain, there is a high risk of the rock blocks rolling down to the houses. Immediately after receiving the news, the local authorities and rescue forces used cables and wooden poles to hold the two rock blocks. After the rain stops, the authorities will break the rock blocks into small pieces and move them to another place, to ensure the safety of people's lives and property," said Mr. Mai Quang Hoi.
Previously, the People's Committee of Con Cuong district had directed Con Cuong town to urgently evacuate people in areas at high risk of rockfall and landslides to safe places.
