2 Nghe An people died in scaffolding collapse in Laos

(Baonghean.vn) - Relatives from Yen Thanh district (Nghe An) are currently going to Laos to complete procedures to bring the bodies of two workers who died in the scaffolding collapse at the hydroelectric project back to their hometown.

On the evening of January 11, Mr. Pham Minh Chuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Thanh Commune (Yen Thanh District) said that relatives and local authorities had just received information that Mr. Vo Van Tuan (born in 1985, from Phu Thanh Commune) had died in Laos.

According to the workers who worked with Mr. Tuan, on the morning of January 11, Mr. Tuan and another worker named Thai (from Tan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh) were working at the Muong Khong Hydropower project (Laos) when the scaffolding collapsed.

Mr. Chuan added that after the collapse, Mr. Tuan was taken to a hospital in Laos for emergency treatment and died. The worker named Thai died on the way to the hospital.

On the evening of January 11, Mr. Tran Duy Liem - Chairman of Tan Thanh Commune People's Committee also confirmed that the locality had just received information that Mr. Phan Van Thai (born in 1993, residing in Hamlet 7, Tan Thanh Commune) had died while working in Laos.

It is known that Mr. Tuan and his wife have two children in 6th grade and kindergarten, and their family circumstances are difficult.

"In the past, Mr. Tuan worked for hire in the South and then went to Laos to work as a factory worker. He saved money and borrowed money to build two houses in his hometown. He has not yet paid off all his debts," said Mr. Chuan.
