According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in the first two months of 2016, the province's export activities had many shipments, with an estimated turnover of 72 million USD. In particular, wood chips continued to be a group of products with a fairly good turnover, with Thanh Thanh Dat Company alone exporting wood chips with a turnover of nearly 15 million USD.

For the textile and garment group, the export turnover in the first two months of the year reached more than 18 million USD. This item has the participation of 7 enterprises, in which, Prex Vinh Company Limited achieved the largest export turnover with nearly 4 million USD. The goods are exported to many markets such as: Korea, China, Japan, USA, Germany, ...

In the coming years, the textile and garment group is identified as the province's key export group with export turnover having a fairly sustainable and stable growth rate.

However, according to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong - Deputy Director of Cua Lo Port, due to Tet holiday, many businesses closed, so February output through the port decreased by 40%, reaching 100,000 tons, while in January 2016 it was 250,000 tons. The two main products through the port are white stone and wood chips (accounting for more than 30%), but in the first two months of the year it decreased compared to the same period.

“The volume of goods accounts for a large proportion, the main ones are white stone, since the beginning of the year, due to licensing procedures, no shipments have been exported. In February, the quantity of wood chips was also limited because it was the beginning of the year, contracts were waiting to be negotiated. Meanwhile, in 2015, stone products of all kinds including pre-processed stone blocks, split stone, stone powder... reached a turnover of 39.88 million USD, accounting for 5.6% of the total export turnover of the whole province, an increase of 21.4% compared to 2014” - Mr. Truong shared.

Mr. Hoang Van Tam - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade: In 2016, the Nghe An Industry and Trade sector set a plan for total export turnover to reach 680 million USD, of which, export turnover of goods is 500 million USD (up 11.2%). The sector is implementing the development of an export project for the period 2016 - 2020, focusing on production and processing of export goods in the province such as processed tea, cassava starch, textiles, white stone powder... Diversifying export markets, improving the efficiency of exporting goods to signed markets (FTA)...
