(Baonghean.vn) - In the 2022 High School Graduation Exam, Nghe An province only had 2 candidates who achieved 10 points in Math. Nationwide, out of nearly 1 million candidates taking the exam, only 35 candidates achieved perfect scores in this subject.

Math 10 points of independent candidates

Le Thi Thanh Van – a former student of Huynh Thuc Khang High School is an independent candidate in this year’s exam. In addition to a score of 10 in Math, Van scored 9.5 in Physics and 8.8 in Foreign Language.

Remembering her student, teacher Thai Thi Vu Anh - the class's homeroom teacher said: Van was a diligent, hardworking and intelligent student. In class, there were often scholarships for students with good achievements and Van was always on the list of recipients. Usually, in exams, Van was always at the top in terms of scores.

When Huynh Thuc Khang High School held mock exams, Van often scored 27 or 28 points and was one of the candidates with high expectations. In fact, in the 2021 exam, Van scored 27.8 points and had a good chance of being admitted to university. However, Van's first choice of enrolling in the Security Academy was not successful.

Not being accepted into the school she loved had a big impact on Van's mentality at that time. As her homeroom teacher, Ms. Vu Anh once advised Van to choose another university to study. However, because her family had a tradition of studying military and security, Van decided to take a year off from university and retake the exam to get enough points to be admitted to her dream school. Sharing more about this decision, Van also said: When my friends entered universities, I was really sad and also thought about my decision. However, I still wanted to give myself a chance to challenge myself.

Van's choice to retake the exam was quite quiet and for over a year, Van has limited contact with friends and teachers to save time for revision. Because she has a good foundation, during this exam, Van did not take extra classes but mainly self-studied and registered for some short courses online. According to Van, the most effective way to study is to practice a lot to get familiar with the types of questions and develop the best skills for taking multiple-choice tests.

With 28.3 points, Van is quite satisfied with the results achieved in this year's exam. However, she was quite surprised with the score of 10 in Math because she did not think that she was one of the few candidates in the country to achieve this score. This female student also added: Although the journey to retake the exam will be very difficult, as long as she is passionate and makes an effort, the results will be worth it.

Get perfect scores by studying specially

Among more than 36,000 12th graders in Nghe An province participating in the 2022 High School Graduation Exam, Phan Van Thanh - a 12th grader at Vinh University High School for the Gifted - was the only candidate to score 10 in Math. Thanh was also the runner-up in Group B of Nghe An province with 28.75 points and was in the top 30 in Group B nationwide.

With 28.75 points, Thanh said he will apply to the General Medicine Department of Hanoi Medical University and hopes to be admitted to fulfill his dream as well as his family's wishes. Sharing about this, Thanh added: My parents are both farmers, my family has 8 siblings, I am the 7th child and the one who has received the most education. I think this result will be a great source of encouragement for my family and I want to become a doctor so that I can take care of people in the future.

Receiving the results of the high school graduation exam this year, the homeroom teacher Le Khanh Hung was one of the happiest people and he thought that it was a completely deserved result. Teaching Thanh since he started attending the specialized school, Mr. Hung's impression of the student was that he was hard-working, gentle, and quiet. Thanh also impressed because in almost all the tests in class, he always got the highest score and maintained a stable performance through the mock exams in all subjects.

Becoming the only 12th grader in the whole province to score 10 in Math, Thanh said that this helped him "relieve himself" and "exam pressure". Previously, in class 12A1, Thanh was always highly appreciated and expected a lot in the Excellent Student Exams. But Thanh himself knew that "because of his mentality", when entering the official exam, he was always confused. Therefore, in the 12th grade Excellent Student Exam, Thanh only won third prize, or in the 2022 High School Graduation Exam, although he scored 9.25 points in Chemistry, Thanh still said that it was a regret because all the mock exams his scores were usually from 9.75 to 10 points...

To get good results in the exam, the owner of a score of 10 in Math believes that mastering the basic knowledge in textbooks is very important. Besides, the learning method is also very important. Thanh shared: "I think many candidates get carried away with extra classes or do too many practice tests. However, this is difficult to apply to everyone and can be time-consuming. Extra classes are only effective if you choose the right teacher, help you understand the lesson and find joy in studying."

This candidate also said that “during the exam preparation process, one should not study too early because this can cause “reverse” reactions: I started studying from grade 11, but at the beginning of grade 12, there was a time when my studies slowed down. The reason was because I studied early, I already knew a lot of knowledge, so when I re-studied the main course in class, I was easily subjective and led to low learning efficiency. It was not until the end of the first semester that I regained my balance and accelerated my exam preparation.

In addition to choosing teachers and finding suitable learning methods, Thanh has a secret to solving difficult exercises, which is studying online: Instead of practicing many questions, he watches clips of solving difficult exercises online every day to see how teachers solve them. After each clip, he will systematize his knowledge and come up with solutions for each exercise. This way of studying helps him reduce pressure but is still effective.
