2 Vietnamese boxers entered the final of the World Muay Championship

May 11, 2017 09:51

On the evening of May 10, head coach Giap Trung Thang called from Belarus to say that after a difficult start, Vietnam finally enjoyed the sweet fruit when two excellent boxers made it to the finals of the 2017 World Muay Thai Championship. They were Le Hoang Duc in the 48 kg weight class and the undefeated Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat in the men's 60 kg weight class.

Le Hoang Duc, who won the silver medal at the Asian Beach Games 3 years ago, is very smart and skillful in his fights. However, in the lightweight category, there are always Thai fighters, the country that gave birth to this martial art, who are very strong, so Duc has never enjoyed the joy of convincing victory in major tournaments.

Even when participating in this tournament in Belarus, Germany was not expected because the Vietnamese coaching staff was still sure that Thailand would participate in this weight class. However, fortunately, the Thais did not have strong fighters in this weight class, so they decided not to register and focus on other weight classes.

Lê Hoàng Đức thắng võ sĩ Hong kong
Le Hoang Duc defeated Hong Kong boxer.

With only 8 fighters, Duc competed more confidently. In the first match, he impressively defeated Govorukha Anton (Russia), then defeated Yiu Tat Fai of Hong Kong (China) in the semi-finals to enter the final match against Arifkhanov Bakytzhan of Kazakhstan. Coach Giap Trung Thang commented: "This is a great opportunity for Germany to win the championship because in the first matches, Germany played very well and won 3-0.

The Kazakh boxer is very tall and has fast strides, but Duc is very confident and has a flexible fighting style, so hopefully he will know how to show himself impressively." The final match between Germany and the Kazakh boxer is at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Similarly, Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat continued to show impressive and stable performance, claiming the title of "undefeated" boxer of Vietnam. In the first match, he defeated Swedish boxer Atanasov Tolga in all 3 rounds with lightning strikes, very fast footwork and very skillful punches that made his opponent lose face, forced to the corner and lost. In the second match, Nhat defeated Hibaioui Anass of Morocco with the same fierce punches, making his opponent unable to counterattack and won overwhelmingly.

Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất thắng võ sĩ chủ nhà Belarus
Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat defeated the home boxer Belarus.

On the afternoon of May 10, Duy Nhat made the entire Muay Thai stadium in Belarus cheer silently when he defeated the home team Vinnik Artsem in a convincing manner. Coach Giap Trung Thang said: "Before the match, Belarus was confident because this was their "fighting chicken" and many fans came to the stadium to cheer for this opponent.

They cheered loudly, overwhelming the spirit of the Vietnamese boxers, but more than anyone else, Duy Nhat was very brave, not wavering or confused at all. When entering the match, Duy Nhat rushed to attack and played with determination and showed his good qualities. That was what overwhelmed all the cheers and put pressure on the Belarusian boxer.

There were also times when the opponent fought back with all his might as if he had nothing left to lose, so Nhat proactively set up tactics and waited for the opponent to make a mistake to exploit. In the end, Nhat defeated the opponent spectacularly to reach the finals...

Duy Nhat's opponent at 7 p.m. today is Turkish boxer Arslam Murat, a man with a very agile and clever fighting style. Coach Giap Trung Thang commented: "This is a fierce match because every boxer who reaches the final has many advantages. But I have faith that Duy Nhat will win because with Nhat's experience and form, he is strong enough to overcome this final obstacle to bring glory to the country."
