Director of Binh Dinh Department of Health Le Quang Hung admitted that he was completely wrong when he signed leave papers for 20 officers and employees to go to the North to attend the ceremony and go on vacation.

This morning, Mr. Hung said that these officers have all returned to their offices to go to work.

Information from the Department said that of these 20 officers and employees, 13 were on the payroll of the Department's departments. These people were given permission by Mr. Hung himself to take leave from February 9 until the end of the week to go on vacation.

Mr. Le Quang Hung and the Head of the Administrative Organization Department were invited by the Ministry of Health to Hung Yen to attend the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the passing of Hai Thuong Lan Ong.

The 20 above mentioned officers and employees were on the same flight with Mr. Hung.

"The staff took leave to go to Hanoi to play, and after the ceremony in Hung Yen, they will go there," Mr. Hung said, adding that this year Binh Dinh did not celebrate Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27), so the staff paid for the trip themselves.

He added that the staff had worked hard during the past time and completed many tasks, so they were given the opportunity to take leave.

“The group canceled all plans and immediately flew back on the evening of February 9. Upon landing at Da Nang airport, the group did not eat or drink but took a bus back to the province. I also canceled my attendance at the ceremony in Hung Yen to return home to handle the situation,” Mr. Hung added.

“It was my mistake to give so many people leave at such a sensitive time. We will review and learn from this incident,” Mr. Hung said.
