20 booths participate in Nghe An Book Fair
(Baonghean.vn) - With the explosion of information technology applications, the Internet era, reading culture is facing new opportunities and challenges, with the potential risk of losing the habit of reading books.
These were the issues raised at the opening ceremony of the Book Fair celebrating the 6th Vietnam Book Day organized by the Provincial People's Committee on the morning of April 19 at Ho Chi Minh Square.

With the theme: “Books - Connecting Knowledge and Development”, this year’s Book Day is organized to call on everyone and every household to make the movement of reading books and newspapers a cultural beauty of Vietnamese people in the period of industrialization - modernization and international integration. Thereby, enhancing the responsibility of all levels of sectors, social organizations, and schools in contributing to building and developing a reading culture among the people.
Speaking at Vietnam Book Day, on behalf of the Provincial People's Committee, comrade Ho Mau Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports called on everyone to spend some time reading books during the day to enrich their knowledge.
Each school needs to launch a reading movement in the library, school, organize book clubs with extracurricular activities, organize book collection movements, support books, support for remote and disadvantaged areas...

Encourage the establishment of family bookcases, clan bookcases, and private libraries to serve the community. Integrate into the activities of unions, teams, and associations to maintain reading activities for young people, gradually develop the reading movement, and aim to build a learning society.
In Nghe An, the public library system has developed from the provincial to the district level with 1 provincial library, 21 district-level libraries and about 250 commune, ward and town libraries, hundreds of law bookcases, cultural post office bookcases and thousands of reading libraries.

This is the 6th year Nghe An has responded to Vietnam Book Day with many meaningful activities such as: Organizing the 2019 Book Street at Ho Chi Minh Square from April 19 to 21 with the participation of 20 book publishing units in and outside the province. In addition, on this occasion, there are also activities such as displaying, introducing and promoting the sale of old books, selling books at preferential prices, cultural products; exhibition of paintings and books about President Ho Chi Minh; socio-political books, books about the sea and islands, culture of the homeland, people of Nghe An; receiving old books to donate to school libraries with difficult conditions, activities to support students.
