21 years in prison for carpenter who carried drugs to make profit
(Baonghean.vn) - Working as a carpenter in Nghe An, a nearly 60-year-old man in Nam Dinh accepted to transport drugs for profit and the price he had to pay was a 21-year prison sentence.
On May 9, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Vu Van Hoach (born 1959), residing in Giao Tien commune, Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province, for the crime of illegally storing and transporting drugs.

According to the indictment, on November 29, 2017, Vu Van Hoach went to Kem hill, Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district to buy 3.75g of heroin from a man (name and address unknown) for use.
On the same day, Hoach was hired to transport 5 grams of synthetic drugs and 349.1 grams of heroin for that man from Kem slope, Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district to Quat Lam town, Nam Dinh province for a fee of 20 million VND.
At 1:30 a.m. on November 30, 2017, when Hoach was storing and transporting drugs to the Ve village area, Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district, he was discovered and arrested by the Investigation Police Agency of Tuong Duong district police.
In court, Vu Van Hoach confessed to all his crimes. According to the investigation, Hoach was a famous carpenter in Nam Dinh. He went to Nghe An to work and then was lured into drugs by friends.
After considering aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the People's Court sentenced defendant Vu Van Hoach to 21 years in prison for illegally storing and transporting drugs.
