To date, the entire province has 256 villages and hamlets in 54 communes that do not have access to the national power grid. Of these, 23 communes in 5 districts (Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Quy Chau, Con Cuong) are completely without electricity, with the highest concentration in Ky Son district with 12 communes.

Currently, the province is implementing 13 investment projects to provide electricity to areas without electricity in 12 communes, with a total investment of VND 167.057 billion from various sources. Of these, three projects under Program 30a, bringing electricity to three communes – Bao Nam (Ky Son district); Nam Giai and Nam Nhoong (Que Phong district) – have a total investment of nearly VND 57 billion. These projects are expected to be commissioned in 2014. According to the plan, by 2020, 100% of communes and 98% of households in the entire province will have access to the national power grid.
