The green pumpkin field model on 2-rice land was implemented in Hung Tan commune with a total area of 25 hectares, 7 hamlets participated. The process of growing green pumpkin is suitable for 2-rice land, has good tolerance to waterlogging and drought; easy to grow, low cost, high yield, giving quite good economic efficiency..
Mr. Phan Dang Ha - Chairman of Hung Tan Agricultural Cooperative said: Winter crop plays a very important role in increasing income for families per unit area. Growing squash costs little, and can be harvested after 60 days. Households participating in the model are supported by the commune budget with 50% of the cost of seeds and 50,000 VND/sao for plowing and harrowing costs.
