267 International Driving Permits issued in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An Department of Transport has issued 267 International Driving Permits (IDPs). The issued driving licenses are valid for 3 years in 73 countries.

Implemented since May 2016, Nghe An Department of Transport is one of the earliest units to implement the Ministry of Transport's initiative on issuing international driving licenses according to the Vienna Convention (1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic and Convention on Road Signs and Signals).

People do procedures to issue and change driving licenses of all classes at Nghe An Department of Transport.

The international driving license is a booklet, A6 size (148 x 105cm) with security symbol, grey cover, white pages inside according to the prescribed form. The first pages contain basic information, scope of use in Vietnamese and English. The following pages are the driver information and vehicle classification in Russian, French, Spanish.

Driver's license issuance process: People only need to fill out an application form and bring a valid driver's license, passport, and permanent resident card (for foreigners) for verification and comparison, and pay a fee of 135,000 VND. After about 5 days, people will receive an international driver's license with a validity of no more than 3 years and can be used in 73 countries.

However, according to regulations, international driving licenses are not valid when used in Vietnam. Therefore, Vietnamese people who are granted driving licenses must carry a regular driving license when participating in domestic traffic.

In the past 9 months, Nghe An Department of Transport has also issued 56,012 new driving licenses of all classes (A1, A2: 40,109 driving licenses; cars of all classes: 15,903 driving licenses) and renewed 78,022 driving licenses of all classes (A1: 59,615 driving licenses; cars of all classes: 18,407 driving licenses).
