The fighting began on April 28, when the Jaish al-Islam Islamic Front launched a large-scale offensive against the Levant Liberation Front, formerly known as the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, in Damascus' Eastern Ghouta.
SOHR said the Saudi-backed Jaish al-Islam group's attack was aimed at destroying the Qatar-backed Nusra Front in the Ghouta areas.
The Nusra Front, or Levant Liberation Front, is considered a terrorist group by the United Nations and the international community, while the US-led anti-terror coalition is "keeping an eye" on the group's leaders in Idlib province, northwestern Syria./.
