According to the investigative committee, three suspects, Bakhram Ergashev, Ibragimzhon Ermatov and Makhamadyusuf Mirzaalimov, have been charged with terrorism and illegal use of explosives. In addition, seven other suspects in the April 3 attack will also be charged in the coming time.
The bombings targeting the subway system at two stations "Sennaya Square" and "Technological University" in Saint Petersburg on April 3, killing 14 people and injuring 50, have been confirmed by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation as a suicide attack.
Last month, the US-based SITE Intelligence Group said the Imam Shamil Battalion, a group with suspected links to al-Qaeda, had claimed responsibility for the attack. The move came weeks after Russian investigators said the attack was likely linked to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS), which has threatened to retaliate against Russia for its attacks on IS in Syria./.
