(Baonghean.vn) – The prestigious magazine Fourfourtwo has selected the five best strikers of Vietnamese football in the past two decades. It is no surprise that Cong Vinh and Van Quyen are mentioned once again.

Nguyen Cong Phuong

Developed by the HAGL – JMG Football Academy, Cong Phuong is a typical face of a young generation full of talent and potential. Cong Phuong possesses excellent technical ability and was once considered as "Vietnam's Messi".

According to Fourfourtwo, the Nghe An striker needs more time to become a world-class striker, to be worthy of the expectations of Vietnamese football fans.

Pham Van Quyen

From the 2000 U16 Asian Cup Finals to Van Quyen's magical performances against strong teams like China and especially the goal against Korea in the 2004 ASIAN Cup qualifiers that brought victory to the Vietnamese team, it resonated throughout Asia.

British magazine assessed Van Quyen as having natural talent. In the minds of Vietnamese fans, Pham Van Quyen always has a certain position even though his peak years have passed for more than a decade. There are very few players whose names touch the hearts of fans as strongly as Quyen.

Le Cong Vinh

Cong Vinh has received the Golden Ball award three times in 2004, 2006 and 2007, and is ranked among the best players in Vietnam's history. He is currently the acting president of Ho Chi Minh City Club.

Cong Vinh is often compared with Van Quyen by Vietnamese fans. There is even a saying "Quyen is born, Vinh trains hard" to describe the two strikers who both grew up at the Song Lam Nghe An training center.

Tran Minh Chien

Former striker Minh Chien is remembered for his headers, his outside-of-the-foot dribbles and his extremely delicate close-range tackling. However, his football career was short-lived due to a serious knee injury. In 1996, he officially retired and then focused on youth training for PVF and currently for Binh Duong.

The most profound memory of Vietnamese fans about Tran Minh Chien is his divine volley against Myanmar in the semi-finals of SEA Games 18.

Le Huynh Duc

During his playing career, he won countless noble titles, such as 3 Golden Balls (1995, 1997, 2002), 3 Silver Balls (1998, 1999, 2000) and set a record of consecutively participating in 5 Tiger Cups (1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004) with 2 titles of Top Scorer in the National Championship and 1 time won the National Championship with Ho Chi Minh City Police.
