Nearly 300 police officers were deployed, and after less than 48 hours, the suspect was caught in a house deep in the village, more than 100km from the crime scene.

On September 28, the Bac Tu Liem District Police received a report that Grab driver Nguyen Cao S. (18 years old, from Thanh Hoa) was missing. That same evening, S.'s body was found with multiple injuries.

Before taking the passengers, S. took a photo of the two suspects and sent it to his friend with the message "If anything happens, report it to the police."

The Deputy Chief of District Police said that from the above image, the next morning, the authorities posted flyers, announcing the search for two suspects of murder and robbery.

Nearly 300 police officers from the unit and forces from the Criminal Police Department were deployed to search for the two suspects in areas in Hanoi.

By the afternoon of September 29, the authorities had received information that two suspects residing in Yen Bai were appearing in the locality with a motorbike suspected to be the victim's, so they set up a working group to go to Van Chan district.

Dinh Van Giap confessed to using a knife to stab driver S. many times and steal his motorbike.
Lieutenant Colonel Ngoc said the area where the two suspects were hiding was dangerous and had vast terrain, making it difficult for the search force to capture them. If they were not captured in time, the two suspects could have tried to escape the country.

Phu Nham Commune Police Chief (Van Chan District) Sa Van Duoc informed that on the morning of September 30, the commune police force coordinated with the Hanoi police working group to go to Dinh Van Truong's house but relatives said he had left.

Locals described Truong leaving with another young man on a blue motorbike without a license plate.

Police transferred the suspect from Yen Bai to Hanoi on the night of September 30.
Sharing with reporters, Thanh Luong Commune Police Chief Luu Minh Tra (suspect Giap's residence) said that on September 30, he was present at Giap's house to verify but Giap was not at home.

That same afternoon, the police discovered the whereabouts of two young men and an Exciter motorbike in Hanh Son commune (Van Chan district, 10km from Giap's house).

At around 6 p.m., two suspects were captured by police while hiding in a house deep in a village of Hanh Son commune.

At the time of arrest, they were using a blue Exciter motorbike with the license plate removed.

2 suspects reenact the crime scene at My Dinh bus station area.

Dinh Van Giap was a local outlaw who was not allowed to go to school. In 2013, Giap went to prison for human trafficking.

Dinh Van Truong has no stable job and no criminal record. He dropped out of school early, is rarely at home, is quiet, and does not appear rebellious.
