The conference was held with the aim of overcoming the situation of buses speeding and recklessly overtaking, causing a number of unfortunate accidents, and improving the ethics and professional awareness of drivers. "Recently, in Nghe An province, there have been many tragic accidents due to bus drivers encroaching on the lane, speeding, recklessly overtaking, weaving and squeezing other vehicles to compete for passengers, causing traffic disorder," Mr. Nguyen Que Su emphasized.
According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department (Nghe An Provincial Police), since the beginning of the year, there have been 13 bus accidents in the province, killing 8 people and injuring 8 others. The bus companies that caused many accidents include Dong Bac and Thach Thanh. "Those are just statistics from the traffic police. In reality, the number of accidents and damages is much higher," said Mr. Su.

Believing that the cause of the above situation is due to the low level of professional ethics of vehicle drivers, the lax management of drivers by transport units as well as the lack of strict supervision and handling, Mr. Nguyen Que Su said that in the near future, the Department will strengthen inspection, supervision and strict handling of bus companies that allow drivers to speed, overtake recklessly, and compete, causing unsafety for passengers when participating in traffic. In addition, transport companies also need to have sanctions to improve the ethics and responsibility of drivers.
