Attending the opening ceremony were Lao Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Khemmany Pholsena, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Manh Hung, along with officials from both ministries and many businesses from both countries.

This year's Vietnam-Laos Trade Fair is larger in scale than in previous years, with a wider variety of goods, attractive labels, and better quality products.

The fair attracted 350 booths from businesses of both countries, meeting standards across various sectors such as: agriculture, forestry and fisheries; processed foods and beverages; clothing and fashion; electrical and electronics, household appliances; plastics and consumer goods; machinery, industrial equipment, and construction materials; pharmaceuticals and medical equipment; wood products and handicrafts. Vietnam had 100 participating businesses with 130 booths, showcasing high-quality products and reputable brands.

The organizers believe the fair serves as an effective bridge for trade organizations, manufacturers, and investors from both countries to meet, exchange experiences, transfer technology, and establish joint ventures and partnerships. It also provides opportunities for Vietnamese businesses to promote their brands, understand the market and consumer demand, and thereby establish distribution and sales networks for goods in Laos and the Northeast region of Thailand.

Simultaneously, through the trade fair, the Ministries of Industry and Trade of both countries drew necessary experiences and promptly developed appropriate policies to create favorable conditions for businesses from both sides to cooperate and develop; continue to implement preferential tariff policies for goods originating from both countries, aiming to strengthen economic and trade cooperation commensurate with the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, towards the goal of achieving a bilateral trade turnover of 2 billion USD by 2015 and 5 billion USD by 2020 as desired by the high-level leaders of both countries, contributing to nurturing the special relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
