Four people were swept away by the flood and are missing, including a mother and her two children.
Speaking to a reporter from Thanh Nien newspaper on the afternoon of September 8th, Mr. Luong Van Doan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province, said that despite mobilizing hundreds of people to search, as of 4 PM that day, rescue forces had still not found the bodies of the three victims swept away by flash floods.
At approximately 8 PM on September 7th, heavy rain caused a sudden flash flood in the stream in Minh Tien village, Thuan Hoa commune, Vi Xuyen district, sweeping away one household. The victims, Ms. Giang Thi Manh (26 years old) and her two sons, Phan Phu Son (4 years old) and Phan Phu Minh (3 years old), are missing. According to Mr. Luong Van Doan, in addition to the loss of life, the heavy rains in recent days have damaged many areas of crops and property belonging to the people.

According to information from the Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Ha Giang province, heavy rains caused landslides in Ban Diu commune, Xin Man district, forcing three households to evacuate for safety.
According to the Central Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting Center, heavy rain was recorded in many areas of the Northern region as of the morning of September 8th. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Đoan Hùng (Phú Thọ) with 124 mm; Kỳ Phú (Thái Nguyên) with 111 mm; and Yên Bái with 101 mm. Due to continuous heavy rain over the past two days in the northern mountainous region, the provinces of Yên Bái, Phú Thọ, Hà Giang, Thái Nguyên, Bắc Giang, and Lai Châu are under warning for flash floods, landslides, and mudslides.
On the afternoon of September 8th, the Cao Bang Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue announced that the floods on September 7th and 8th resulted in one person missing. The victim is Ms. Hoang Thi Duong, 50 years old, residing in Ban Sac Ha hamlet, Quang Trung commune, Tra Linh district, who was swept away by a flash flood while crossing a stream; as of 4 PM that day, her body had still not been found.
In Nguyen Binh district, seven houses were damaged by landslides; and on provincial road 212 in Quang Thanh commune, traffic was blocked due to landslides at 10 different locations. In addition, the heavy rains and floods caused erosion and destroyed many inter-communal roads between Tam Kim and Quang Thanh communes.
