4 common mistakes when using deodorant
Drying, using immediately after showering or using in the morning are common mistakes we often make when using medicine and deodorant.
Excessive sweating is a nuisance to many people. Smelly sweat makes daily life and social interactions more difficult. Many people try to prevent body odor by using deodorants.

Currently on the market there are two types of products used to eliminate unpleasant body odors: “antiperspirant” - prevents sweating and “deodorant” - disinfects and deodorizes. Products labeled “antiperspirant” have the effect of preventing or inhibiting sweating and controlling body odor. Meanwhile, “deodorant” products only contain antibacterial and bactericidal substances to prevent unpleasant body odors without controlling the amount of sweat secreted.
These two products have different mechanisms of action but share the same effect of reducing and preventing unpleasant body odor.
According to Dr. Dawn Harper, an expert on the Channel 4 (UK) TV show Embarrassing Bodies, although widely used, not everyone knows the real effects of the deodorant they buy. In addition, there are 4 mistakes that people often make when using deodorant.
Use while body is still wet
According to Dr. Harper, wet skin will hinder the absorption of active ingredients in deodorants, reducing the effectiveness of the drug.
Therefore, for best results, you should dry your skin before using antiperspirant and deodorant products.

Use in the morning
Many people have the habit of using deodorant in the morning, right before leaving the house to ensure “a fresh smell all day”. However, this is a completely wrong concept.
Dr. Harper recommends applying deodorant every night before bed, when it is fully absorbed and has a longer lasting effect. You should wash it off with soap and water after a night of deodorant use.
Drying
Many people use a hair dryer to quickly dry their deodorant before getting dressed. Dr. Harper recommends letting it air dry because the dryer can destroy some of the important ingredients in the deodorant.
Overuse
It is not good to use a lot of deodorant. If you use it every day but do not clean it thoroughly at the end of the day or in the morning, it will clog your pores. Over time, it will cause skin diseases in the area where the deodorant is used.
You should only use deodorant 1-2 times a week and not every day.
