Authorities have successfully rescued a mother and child who were crushed by a landslide while burning votive paper in the center of Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa.

At around 11am today (January 4), Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Long, 38 years old, and her 11-year-old daughter in Phuong Sai ward, Nha Trang city brought votive paper to the Bodhi tree behind their house, located at the foot of Trai Thuy mountain to burn.

Suddenly, a large rock rolled down from the mountain, hitting Long and her child and the Bodhi tree. Many local people discovered it and tried to dig and rescue them, but were helpless. The two victims were crushed by the rock, unable to move their legs, exhausted and screaming in pain, affecting their lives.

Police force removed the victim from the rock

Khanh Hoa Provincial Police mobilized more than 40 officers and soldiers to carry out the rescue. The police cut the rock, lifted it up, and reassured the victim.

After nearly an hour of rescue, Ms. Long was taken out in a state of severe injuries and panic. About 5 minutes later, the girl was rescued and taken to the emergency room, one of her arms had been severed./.
