Following the success of VACI 2011 and Vietnam Innovation Day 2009, the program is a symbol of the long-term, close cooperation between the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and development partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector towards the common goal of enhancing transparency, public integrity, and accountability to reduce corruption.

VACI 2013 consisted of two parts: a creative competition and a knowledge exchange forum. In the creative competition, from 130 submitted projects, the preliminary judging panel of the VACI 2013 Program selected 40 outstanding projects to advance to the final round.

These are the most outstanding and innovative projects that meet the program's goals and requirements, promising the best results for selection, awarding prizes, and securing funding for implementation. On June 11th, the judging panel will hear presentations from the finalists on their submitted projects.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Tran Duc Luong emphasized that with the determination and continuous efforts of the entire political system and society, Vietnam's anti-corruption work has continued to show positive progress in recent times.

However, the corruption situation in Vietnam remains serious and complex. Corruption is still a pressing issue and a major concern for the community.

Experience from many countries around the world shows that, in order to successfully combat corruption, in addition to political will and the efforts of state agencies, it is essential to mobilize the active participation and support of the entire society.

The VACI 2013 program is one of the specific and practical activities contributing to promoting the role and responsibility of society, strengthening international cooperation in preventing and combating corruption, and affirming Vietnam's political determination and responsibility in fulfilling its obligations as a member state of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.

Representing the World Bank, Mr. Janes Anderson affirmed that through the VACI Program, the Government Inspectorate, as well as other agencies, ministries, and sectors of Vietnam, have demonstrated exceptional determination in facilitating, encouraging, and coordinating with non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and the press in the fight against corruption.

On June 12th, the Organizing Committee will announce and award prizes to the winning innovative projects of VACI 2013 and organize a knowledge exchange forum on the theme "Using Information and Communication Technology in the Prevention and Combat of Corruption".
