Using the right gear, braking properly, not using the clutch, changing the air filter and oil filter on time… are ways to help your car last longer.

1. Use reasonable numbers

One of the most common bad habits of drivers is not to shift to a lower gear when stopping temporarily, stopping at red lights, or driving at low speeds while still in a higher gear. This habit will make your car "consume" more gas and the engine will have to operate in a weak state, sluggish, and age faster.

Normally, if you pay attention to the speedometer panels of manual transmission vehicles, the manufacturer often clearly specifies the most reasonable speed. For example, from 1st to 2nd gear, the speed is 20 km/h, from 2nd to 3rd gear: 20 – 40 km/h, 3rd to 4th gear: 40 – 60 km/h… Therefore, you should use the appropriate gear so that the vehicle is always operated in the best condition, always shift to a lower gear when going slowly or stopping at a red light or after braking.

2. Brake properly

All motorbikes have 2 brakes, one on the front and one on the rear wheel, so remember to always keep your right foot on the brake pedal when driving and your right hand on the handbrake lever. If you only use the front brake, the risk of the front wheel skidding is very high. If you only use the rear brake, there is a risk of the bike skidding.

In both cases, if you are lucky enough not to flip or fall over, you will still have to brake a long distance until the car stops completely. The best way is to brake both the front and rear brakes at the same time, following the principle of letting the rear brake grip first and then applying the front brake.

3. Do not squeeze the clutch

The habit of squeezing the clutch to accelerate and increase the acceleration of manual transmission vehicles is common among young people, however, you should not do this if you do not want to have to change the clutch frequently or always have to listen to the annoying howling sound of the clutch when operating. Normally, for automatic or manual transmission vehicles, the clutch is used for the purpose of the vehicle changing speed according to each gear step. Holding the foot or hand to perform the clutch pressing operation and then suddenly releasing it to accelerate the vehicle will cause the clutch system to operate at high intensity, which can easily cause damage.

4. Replace air filter and oil filter on time

The air filter has the function of preventing all dirt and impurities from entering the engine. If they are torn or damaged, they will not be able to provide the correct amount of air to the carburetor, leading to phenomena such as: the car consumes more gas, is difficult to start in the morning, and cannot reach maximum capacity. If the oil filter is clogged, the task of purifying impurities mixed in the engine oil will be affected if not replaced in time. When the oil filter is clogged, it will cause a lack of oil for the engine. This makes the car run hotter and is prone to engine seizure.

5. Do not connect additional lights, use external additives

Recently, many car fires while in operation are caused by the car owner connecting additional electrical devices from outside. Devices such as: double horns, high-power headlights, flashing lights, decorative colored lights... are the main cause of damage to the battery, charging diode, and coil; even causing car fires. The main cause is that when installing additional devices, the coil does not produce enough power, the wires short-circuit due to overload or the battery quickly loses power.
