The General Secretary and President requested that relevant agencies strengthen coordination to remove difficulties and obstacles, speed up investigation and prosecution, and promptly bring five major cases to trial.

The case of “Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss and waste; Violating regulations on land management” occurred at Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Sabeco), District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and a number of related units;
The case of “Violating regulations on investment in construction works causing serious consequences; Violating regulations on management and use of State assets causing loss and waste” occurred at the Project of renovating and expanding production phase 2 - Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Company;
The case of "Smuggling; Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" occurred at Nhat Cuong Company and a number of related units;
The case of "Violating regulations on investment in construction works causing serious consequences" occurred at the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway Project (Phase 1);
The case of “Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences; Trading in counterfeit medicines; Abusing position and power while performing official duties” occurred at the Department of Drug Administration - Ministry of Health, VN Pharma Company and a number of related agencies and units.
The Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption requested that 4 out of the 5 cases above be completed in 2020 and that violations by organizations and individuals be strictly handled.
In addition to the five major cases, the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption also requested that relevant agencies strengthen coordination, remove difficulties, step up investigation, prosecution, and trial; handle cases under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee; strive to complete the investigation of four cases, issue indictments in eight cases, and conduct first-instance trials in 11 cases. The fight against corruption needs to be promoted "with higher political determination, more drastic and effective actions".
At the Standing Committee meeting of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption held on March 18, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, Head of the Steering Committee, requested that "there must not be a symbolic trial" and "the asset recovery stage must be done better".
"We once again express our high determination in this field, with firm and close direction, smooth coordination, methodical and reasonable steps, and clear implementation. We are convinced in every case. That is our experience, that is also the reason for the recent results, and another great thing is the high consensus and support of the people," General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized./.
